Terms of service
Last updated 6 November 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and us, the people who run Platespin at platespin.app, about using Platespin. By creating an account or using Platespin, you agree to them. If you use Platespin on behalf of an organization, you agree to them for that organization too, and confirm that you're allowed to.
Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information. Please read it too.
1. Platespin
Platespin is a tool for teams to plan projects, share tasks and keep track of work together. Accounts are by invitation. Platespin is currently free. If that ever changes, we'll tell you well in advance, and you won't be charged anything unless you agree to it.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to use Platespin.
- Use your own name and an email address that you control, and keep them up to date.
- An account is for one person. Keep your password, any Google or Microsoft account you sign in with, and the key of any app connected to your account, secure. You're responsible for what happens in your account, including what an app you've connected does there, so tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
3. Teams and roles
- Anyone can start a team and becomes its admin. Admins decide who is in the team and what each person's role is, and can delete the team's projects, or the team itself, including work that others added to it.
- Work in a team is shared with everyone in it: they can all see it, and members and admins can change it. If you leave a team or are removed from it, what you added stays with the team.
- Only invite people who would expect to hear from you.
4. Your content
- What you add to Platespin, such as tasks, comments and files, stays yours (or your team's or organization's).
- You allow us to store, copy, process and show your content only as needed to run Platespin for you and your teams: for example, to show it to the people in your team, to include it in emails you've asked for, and to make backups.
- You're responsible for your content, and must have the right to add it to Platespin.
- You can take your content with you: anyone can export the tasks of a project they can see to a spreadsheet, and a team's admins can download a copy of everything the team keeps.
- If your team keeps information about other people in Platespin CRM (its contacts), your team decides what to keep and why, and must be allowed to keep it under the privacy laws that apply to you: for example, by having a good reason to keep it, telling those people, and correcting or deleting it when they ask. We keep it only to run Platespin for your team.
- If your team shares a form, you're responsible for what it asks and what you do with the answers. Tell people why you're asking, ask only for what you need, and don't use a form to ask for passwords or payment card details. We may close a form that's used to deceive people or to collect what it shouldn't.
- Each account has room for a limited amount of attached files (photos on captures count too), and each file has a size limit. Settings → Storage shows yours. Programs and scripts can't be attached. Files people send through a team's form count toward the room of the person the form acts as (whoever last saved it).
- We don't check what people add to Platespin before their team sees it, but we act when we learn of content that breaks the law or these terms (see Reporting content).
- Keep your own copies of anything important. We make backups every day, but we can't promise that nothing will ever be lost.
5. Using Platespin fairly
Please don't use Platespin to:
- break the law, or help anyone else to;
- add content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful or harmful, or that infringes anyone's rights, such as copyright or privacy;
- add sensitive information about other people, such as their health or finances, without their permission and a good reason;
- send spam, including invitations to people who don't expect them;
- upload malware, get into accounts, teams or data that you're not allowed into, or test Platespin's security without our written permission;
- overload or disrupt Platespin, or collect information from it by automated means, other than through an app connected to your account the way we provide.
Reporting content
If you see something in Platespin that breaks the law or these terms, tell us: use Report beside a file, or email [email protected]. The person who added it isn't told who reported it.
We look into reports promptly. We may remove content that breaks the law or these terms, without notice, and suspend or close the account that added it. Where the law requires it, or someone may be harmed, we may pass the content, and information about the account that added it, to the police or other authorities.
6. Our part
- We work to keep Platespin available, secure and backed up. But we provide it "as is" and "as available": it may sometimes be unavailable, for example for maintenance or updates or for reasons beyond our control, and its features may change.
- We may change or stop offering Platespin. If we decide to stop, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice where we reasonably can, so you have time to copy your work.
7. Ending your use
- You can stop using Platespin at any time, and ask us to delete your account (see Deleting your account).
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or when we need to for legal or security reasons. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you why first.
8. Other services
Platespin works with other services that you may choose to use, such as signing in with Google or Microsoft. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to your use of them.
9. Liability
- To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data, profits, revenue or business, arising from your use of Platespin or from its being unavailable. Our total liability to you for anything to do with Platespin is limited to NZ$100.
- Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded, such as under New Zealand's Consumer Guarantees Act where it applies. If you use Platespin for the purposes of a business, you agree that the Consumer Guarantees Act doesn't apply.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll tell you by email or in Platespin before they apply. If you keep using Platespin after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree with them, stop using Platespin and ask us to delete your account.
11. General
- These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the courts of New Zealand have jurisdiction.
- If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce part of these terms straight away, we can still do so later.
